WEPHA068 A Control System Using EtherCAT Technology for The Next-Generation Accelerator controls, PLC, vacuum, LLRF 1258

  The construction of a new 3 GeV Light Source is in progress. The 3 GeV Light Source will be designed a compact and stable Linac based on the C-band accelerator developed by SACLA. Furthermore, we have an upgrade project of SPring-8 that we call SPring-8-II. We adopted EtherCAT technology as a network fieldbus for the next-generation control system. Currently, as the control systems using EtherCAT, a low-level RF system and a new standard in-vacuum undulator system are running at the SPring-8 storage ring. Additionally, it is necessary to upgrade a high-power RF (HPRF) system at SACLA and a magnet power supply system. The current HPRF system consists of a VME and four PLCs. These PLCs are connected by an optical FA-Link that had been discontinued. Therefore, we will construct a new HPRF system that is replaced a VME with MTCA.4 and is used EtherCAT as a fieldbus. A fieldbus of a magnet power supply system will be replaced an old optical link with EtherCAT. The new systems will be verified into a prototype accelerator for the 3 GeV Light Source in SPring-8 site. The control systems using EtherCAT will be installed into the 3 GeV Light Source and SPring-8-II.

FRAPP06 Status of the Control System for the Energy Recovery Linac BERLinPro at HZB controls, EPICS, laser, operation 1669

  BERLinPro is an energy recovery linac (ERL) demonstrator project built at HZB. It features CW SRF technology for the low emittance, high brightness gun, the booster module and the recovery linac. Construction and civil engineering are mostly completed. Synchronized with the device integration the EPICS based control system is being set-up for testing, commissioning and finally operation. In the warm part of the accelerator technology that is already operational at BESSY and MLS (e.g. CAN-bus and PLC/OPCUA) is used. New implementations like the machine protection system and novel major subsystems (e.g. LLRF, Cryo-Controls, photo cathode laser) need to be integrated. The first RF transmitters have been tested and commissioned. At the time of this conference the first segment of the accelerator is scheduled to become online. For commissioning and operation of the facility the standard set of EPICS tools form the back-bone. A set of generic Python applications already developed at BESSY/MLS will be adapted to the specifics of BERLinPro. Scope and current project status are described in this paper.
